Day 1 : Athens Airport – Hotel Arrangement – Night City Tour Transfer from Athens El. Venizelos Airport to the Hotel. Night City Tour in the Centre of Athens! Highlights : Syntagma – Monastiraki – Plaka – Thisseion – Acropolis Museum. Welcome Drink and Dinner Gala!! Analytical Programme Arrival in the Athens El. Venizelos airport. Embarkation in the coach and we drive to Athens city centre. Arrangement in the hotel. Late in the evening we will take a night city tour in the centre of Athens. We start our walking tour from Syntagma Square! There stands the imposing Parliament of Greece! A marvellous marble building of neo classical style, initially served to host the Otto Prince Palace and the later king family. We leave the Syntagma square and we walk through the Ermou street, the busiest shopping street of Greece, which connects the Syntagma with Keramikos archaeological site! We will meet the Byzantine Church of Panagia Kapnikarea and then we will pass by the Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens, built in 1842. Next we reach in the Monastiraki square and we go towards Thisseion through a nice pavement street that passes by the Ancient Agora, the temple of Hephaeustus and views in the Acropolis Rock! Then we walk towards the Odeon of Herodes Atticus and the new Acropolis Museum. After our walking tour we will enjoy our dinner. Day 2 : Athens Morning City Tour in the most important sites of the city Center, Lunch in the Acropolis Museum, Evening Welcome Event In Zappeion! Highlights :Kallimarmaro, Presidential Palace, Zappeio, Temple of Zeus, Handrian Arch, Plaka, Ancient Agora, Loutra Aeridon, Acropolis, Archaelogical Site, New Acropolis Museum. We start our walking tour from the Panathinaic Stadium or Kallimarmaron the most Ancient Stadium in use, which hosts the Classical Marathon every year in Athens. Next we will pass by the Presidential Mansion a marvellous marble building which serves as the residence of the president of the Hellenic Republic. Opposite of the mansion nests the Zappeion Megaron and the Royal Gardens. Our next stop is the Temple of Zeus and the Handrian Arch archaeological site. Next we are moving to the picturesque neighbourhood of Athens that is called Plaka which is full of Neo classical buildings and archaeological sites. To name some of them, The Tower of Winds, the Ancient Market, the neighbourhood of Anafiotika with a typical Cycladic style. Then, we walk towards the Acropolis Sacred Rock, where stands the Parthenon, the Propylaia, the Erechtheum and temple of Nike and other remains of ancient sanctuary buildings! Except for the historical monuments that we will admire, we will be captured from the astonishing view of the city of Athens, of Piraeus and the Saronic Gulf. If the weather is clear we may see the island of Aegina and Salamina as well!!! After our tour in the Acropolis rock, we descent until we find the Odeon of Herodus Atticus. It is a venue with a capacity of more than 5000 people built in 161 AD. Next comes the small theatre of Dionysus! A well preserved theatre built in the 6th century BCE. In the end of the marvellous road of Dionysiou Areopagitou, stands the Modern Acropolis Museum, that hosts the most famous exhibits from the archaeological neighbouring archaeological site! We will enjoy a guided tour under the rock of Acropolis! After our tour we will enjoy a lunch in the Museum΄s restaurant that views in the Parthenon! After the lunch we will return to the hotel. In the evening we will be prepared for our welcome event in Zappeion!! Day 3 : Delphi - Arachova Journey to Delphi. Visit the Archaelogical Sites and the Museum of Delphi. Lunch in Delphi Village. Evening Coffee in Arachova.Return in Athens. Highlights : The tholos of Athena Pronaia, Ancient stadium, Castalia Fountain, Ancient Theatre, Stoa of Athenians, Treasury of the Siphnians, Temple of Apollo. Museum of Delphi Early in the morning we start our journey towards the Parnassos mountains and the sacred city of Ancient Greek world and famous financial centre, Delphi! There we will admire the interesting archaeological sites, as well as the Museum! Then we will have a lunch in a traditional restaurant! After our visit in Delphi, we will stop to Arachova! It is a small village that has preserved the traditional arquitecture with the stonebuildings!! After enjoying a cup of coffee or tea and strolling a little bit in the village, we board in the bus. Late at night we arrive in Athens! Day 4 : Free Day in Athens Recommendations : • Faliro Yacht Mooring : Enjoy a cup of coffee in Faliro, walk by the Yachts, visit the Averof Battle Ship and the Ancient reconstruction of Trireme Olympias. • Piraeus Walking Tour in Freattyda : Visit of the Hellenic Maritime Museum, Enjoy a cup of coffee or a quick lunch by the marvelous view of the Saronic Gulf! • Walking Tour in Pasalimani, Alexandras Square and Microlimano • Walking Tour in the old picturesque neighbourhood of Kastella with marvellous view in the Saronic Gulf and the coastal Attica!! • One Day Cruise in the Saronic Gulf (Piraeus – Aegins Day 5 : Sounio – Athens Herodion Theatre (or Athens Concert Hall). Guided tour to Sounion Archaelogical Site and optionally in Lake of Vouliagmeni. In the evening we watch concert show in Herodes Odeon or in the Athens Concert Hall. Highlights : Temple of Poseidon, Byron Inscription, Athens Herodion Theater. Today we will visit the South edge of Attica Land! Taking the coastal avenue we will drive to the Sounion! Optionally we may visit the Vouliagmeni Lake with famous hot springs. In Sounion we will admire the temple of Poseidon, of Doric Rhythm as well as the magic scenery of the Aegean! In the evening we will return to our hotel! In the night we will visit the Odeon of Herodus Atticus where, we will watch a concert !! Day 6 : Mycenae – Epidaurus – Nafplion - Olympia Guided tour in Mycenae, Epidaurus and Nafplion. Highlights : Treasure of Atreus, Cyclopean Walls, Lion΄s Gate, Grave Circle, Mycenae Museum(Mycenae) , Ancient Theatre at the Asklepieion of Epidaurus, Tholos/ Thymele at the Sanctuary of Asklepios at Epidaurus, Stoa of Abaton at the Sanctuary of Asklepios at Epidaurus, Stadium at the Sanctuary of Asklepios at Epidaurus , Greek Baths at the Sanctuary of Asklepios Epidaurus(Epidaurus), Nafplion Highlights : Palamidi Fortress, Bourtzi Sea Castle, Nafplion Old Town, Acronafplia (Nafplion) . In this day we will leave Attica and following the steps of Hercules, we will go to the land of Peloponesse full of traditions and historical sites! Firstly we will visit the ancient Mycenae! We go back to 1600 BC where Agamemnon and Menelaos where preparing for the Troyan Campaign! In the site of Mycenae will see remains of the ancient city and the graves of the kings! Next we will pay a visit in the small museum of Mycenae with exchibits which have been found in the area! After our tour in Mycenae we will travel some centuries forward, in the Classic Ages! Our next station is the Archaelogical Site of Epidaurus, with the famous Theatre! The site of Epidaurus, were once health center (Asklipieion) and sacred place of the Health God, Asklipios! It resembled to what we nowadays call “Health Spa Centers”. In the Epidaurus we will reveal the methods of healing of the past! Leaving the Ancient Epidaurus, we will visit Nafplion, a picturesque coastal city, full of traditional buildings! It is an arquitectural miracle! Albeit a very small town, we will enjoy the endless strolls in the paved streets! Optionally we may visit the Palamidi Fortress with view over the Saronic Gulf and the Bourtzi which a castle in the middle of the sea!! Late in the evening we are leaving from Nafplion. Next station is the Sacred Region of Olympia! Day 7 : Ancient Olympia - Katakolo Guided Tour in Archaeological site of Olympia, the two Museums and the temporary theater of Floka. In the evening we visit the Katakolo for lunch Highlights : Temple of Zeus, Temple of ?era, Bouleuterion, Prytaneion, Ancient stadium, Gymnasium, Palaestra, Workshop of Pheidias, Philippeion (Archaeological Site). East, West Pediment and Metopes of Zeus Temple, Statue of Nike of Paionios, Hermes of Praxiteles, Statue of Zeus carrying Ganymedes, Helmet of Miltiadis (New Museum).: Collection of Prehistoric Teracottas, Collection of Archaic Sculptures (Olympic Games Museum). Katakolon Port. This day is devoted to the most significat Archaelogical Site of Greece! Ancient Olympia, hosted the famous Olympic Games! Nested between the rivers Alfeios and Kladeos, has given rise to a rich civilization which created outstanding monuments and artefacts. In the Archaelogical site we will feel like athletes of a previous era, passing by ancient paleastras, gyms and stadiums. We will feel the sacred spirit of the classical ages viewing the remains of the Zeus temple and the temple of Hera! Next we will visit the new Museum, with famous artefacts like the Pediments of the Metopes of Zeus temple the Hermes of Praxiteles etc. Optionally we may visit the old Museum, also known as the Museum of the Olympic Games with a vast collection of Prehistoric and Archaic exhibits! Then we will discover the relation between the ancient and the modern greeks, visiting a modern open theatre resembling to the ones of the ancient past! Less than two kilometres away from the Olympia lies the village Flokas, whose habitants voluntarily participated in the building of this miracle! After our tour in the valley of Olympia we will visit the coastal village of Katakolon where we will have a traditional dinner with tastes from the Ionian Sea!! After our dinner we will return to the hotel. Day 8 : Kaifas Beach - Nemea – Athens Leave from Olympia. Visit the marvelous Kaiafas Beach. Guided tour in Archaeological site. Visit in a winery in Nemea. Return in Athens. Highlights : Temple of Zeus, Ancient Stadium, Traditional Winery (Nemea). Return in Athens late at night. We get up early in the morning and we travel through a stunning journey, viewing the Ionian Sea! First stop is the beach of Kaifas. We will walk in the sand-dune until we admire the magic view of the sea! We continue our journey passing through the prefectures of Messenia and Arcadia before we stop in Nemea, where Hercules, the mythic God, completed on of his Labours! It is the place where he affronted the Nemea’s Lion! In the legendary Nemea we will visit the Archeological site with the remaints of the Temple of Zeus and the Ancient Stadium! Then we will experience a long tradition of the Greek civilization, the art of making wines! In a traditional winery, we will take a journey in the world of Peloponnesian wines and local flavours! Return in Athens. Day 9 : Morning in the historical centre of Athens Recommendations : National Archaeological Museum, Gazi, Psyri, National Archaelogical Museum, Museum of Cycladic Art. Evening Show Our last day in Athens we are free to enjoy the city according to our tastes! In the midday we may have lunch in Plaka!! Day 10 : Athens – Athens Airport .
