TESTING SPECIFIC GRAVITY Test each cell with a hydrometer. SPECIFIC GRAVITY: 1.270-1.290 (20°C, 68°F) 1.270-1.290 Fully charged Below 1.260 Undercharged NOTES The battery must be recharged if the specific gravity is below 1.230. The specific gravity varies with the temperature as shown in the accompanying table. Replace the battery if sulfation is evident or if the space below the cell plates is filled with sediment. teWARNING The battery contains sulfuric acid. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, or clothing. Antidote: Flush with water and get prompt medical attention. 110) Specific gravity changes by 0.007 for every 10°C. 1. 31 — BATTERY TEMPERATURE VS SPECIFIC GRAVITY 1. 304 1. 30 1.297 1. 29 1. 284 12. 90 1.28 1 283 1.27 1. 277 1,276 1 270 1. 26 1. 263 1. 256 1.25 1.24 C 0• 5' 10' 15' 20' 25' 30' 35' 40' P 3V 41' 50* 59' 58' 77: 86' 95' 104' ELECTROLYTE TEMPERATURE Date of Issue: May, 1982 311 0 HONDA MOTOR CO., LTD. 18-3
